The course is under way since 1964 and prepares professional health educators by providing theoretical orientation in community health education and field orientation in villages. The course is affiliated to Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. The course commences every year in July The course prepares health education specialists to provide effective leadership in promoting the objectives of health and family planning program and in raising the health standards of the nation by involving people to that end The course content includes: Theory (40%), Concurrent Field Training (20%), Supervisory Field Training (20%), Media Workshop and other practicals (15%), and observation visits (5%)
On completion of the course, employment opportunities for candidates include
Health educators in block, district and state level organizations
Communication officers in area projects
Trainers in training institutions
Planners and administrators in governmental and Non Governmental set ups
Duration : 12 Months
Eligibility :
1. A Master's Degree in Arts (or) Science (or) Education (or) Nursing (or) A recognized India University (or) 2. A Bachelor's Degree in ARTS (or) Science (or) Education (or) Nursing with TWO YEARS experience in community work 3.Candidates sponsored by Ministry of external affairs & deputed candidates from government
