In recognition of the institute's contribution to community health nursing, the Government of India established one of the six Regional Health Teachers Training Institutions at GIRH & FWT in 1979. The RHTTI envisages meeting the shortage of Public Health Nurses and Public Health Nursing Tutors in the country. Besides government deputed candidates and private candidates also join the courses organized by RHTTI.  Candidates sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs from Afro Asian and Pacific countries also undergo training here

Diploma in Nursing Education and Administration
 

The course is offered to nursing personnel from the southern states and union territories of India. The course is recognized by Tamil Nadu Nursing Council and the admission is scheduled in July every year

 

Course Objectives 
 

As stated by the India Nursing Council this integrated Post Basic Diploma course was evolved to update registered and qualified nurses as competent nurse teachers as well as Senior/ Middle Level Nurse Manager in Health Care set-ups Community / Hospital

 

Examination 

The Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Government of Tamil Nadu is the Chairman Board of Studies and Board of Examination for the course and certificates are issued by the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Government of Tamil Nadu

Eligibility

Candidates should have registered with the State Nursing Council as Auxiliary Nurse Midwife/Female Health worker and should have five years of experience as ANM / FHW
 

Educational Qualification

1) X-Std. Pass/Secondary School Leaving Certificate
2) Certificate as Female Health Worker/Auxiliary Midwife
3) Certificate of Registration from State Nursing Council
 

Course content 

Course will cover to basic Health Science and Principles of Nursing with the specific reference to Reproductive and Child Health. Control of Communicable Diseases. Environmental Health and Principles and Techniques of Middle Level Management in Health Care Services. Practical experience are provided in the Community and Hospital setting
 

Promotional Opportunity 

The six Months Promotional Course qualifies the Female Health Worker to take up the Supervisory post as Health Supervisors Female at the Primary Health Centre/Community Health Centre

The institute organizes Short-term training in Community Health Nursing and Epidemiology to Graduate, Post Graduate, General Nursing and Mid Wifery students of various nursing colleges as and when the colleges ask for
