Regional Resource Centre

               

 About RRC :

The Department of Family Welfare, Government of India has set up Regional Resource Centre (RRC) for providing technical and managerial support to Mother Non Government Organisation (MNGO) who are involved in the implementation of RCH Program. The RRC will act as a repository of information and materials about for MNGO to help in their day to day Functioning. There are 11 RRC in the  Country :

   2 HLFPPT : Andhra Pradesh for SOUTH REGION
   3 FPAI : MUMBAI for WEST REGION
   4 CHETNA : WEST REGION
   5 CINI  : KOLKATA for EAST REGION
   6 SSS  : EAST REGION
   7 VHAA : EAST REGION
   8 PFI : NORTH REGION
   9 SIFPSA  : NORTH REGION
   10 VHAI   : NORTH REGION
   11 MAMTA : NORTH REGION

Gandhigram Institute of Rural Health and Family Welfare Trust (GIRH & FWT) being a National NGO, and having an international outlook, the Government of India considered the institute as capable of functioning as an RRC for the Southern Region's states of :

Key Elements of RRC :

  • To enable the MNGOs to access information and IEC-Materials in RCH.

  • To provide training and facilitate the MNGO in management of RCH programs.

  • To give management assistance in the NGO sector in RCH to Government of India.

  • To provide Advocacy and Networking assistance to all MNGOs.

To access Information and Materials :

  • Develop and collect IEC-Material relevant for the region

  • Develop, compile and collect training materials and manuals.

Maintain a Database of :

  • Local, specific health problems

  • Community practices

  • Constraints

  • Successful approaches

  • Vendors of equipment, their Cost and quality testing labs where they can be tested

  • Advice on appropriate technology

  • Indicators of RCH program by MNGO

  • Maintain a database on demographic indicators, coverage, service

  • Process, output and impact level indicators for various RCH services along with methodologies

  • Project formulation, management, training, IEC and research

  • RCH consultant who can assist with project formulation

  • Process of Service delivery infrastructure & Outcome on utilization data for the region in both public & private system

Maintain Information on :

  • Technical standards

  • Service delivery guidelines and norms

  • Drugs Act, Consumer Protection Act, Pre Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act, Medical and Nursing Homes Establishment Act

  • Advocacy

  • training in RCH

  • Donors, International NGOs, National foundations

  • Corporate Bodies and Network who can provide Financial Assistance

Provide and Facilitate Training for MNGOs :

  • On Management and Finance

  • On RCH substantive issues, including Gender in RH

  • On Networking with Government

  • On Community Mobilization (if needed)

  • On Programme Perspectives, CNAA etc.

Management Assistance :

  • Provide clarification on Guidelines of scheme

  • Analyse progress reports and Monitor follow up on behalf of Government

  • Design and Facilitate Evaluation, Conduct Evaluation if appropriate

  • Facilitate Coordination between Government and MNGO

  • Facilitate Communication between MNGO and FNGO if needed

Advocacy & Networking Assistance:

  • Lobby with policy makers and Governments

  • Facilitate networking and experience sharing between MNGOs

  • Serve on Government committees to reflect MNGO perspectives
